We’re committed to effective healthcare-- Gov. Lalong.

PLATEAU State Government is to provide the enabling environment for effective healthcare delivery in the State.
Governor Simon Lalong stated this Monday when the officials of the Health Reform Foundation of Nigeria (HERFON) led by their leader, Dr. Ben Ayeni paid him a courtesy call at Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Professor Sonni Tyoden, Lalong said government would provide the infrastructural facilities and relevant reforms to make the system work better.

The Health Reform Foundation of Nigeria was established in 2003 with a mandate to help governments identify challenges in the health sector as well as proffer solution to it.
Lalong said that though the performance of the state in health reform was not encouraging as given the experts which was just 28 percent, assured of a better improvement next year.
He also assured the foundation of a partnership in the advocacy for effective health care delivery especially at the grassroots level noting that if the health care of the people was guaranteed the better for the country.
Earlier, leader of Health Reform Foundation of Nigeria, Dr. Ben Ayeni had while giving statistics of performance in the health reform programme put Plateau State at 28 percent.
Ayeni noted that Plateau State has the human material resources which it deployed would revamp its performance higher, urging it to also ensure attainment of the Universal Health coverage which has the concern of the world over.
He also advised the state government to ensure full implementation of the Primary Health Care Agency as well as make the board functional and appealed for the payment of PHC staff at the local governments.
He said and priority conducive working environment and engagement qualified personnel’s for qualitative health care delivery, shall be given attention.
Ayeni however congratulated governor Lalong for emerging as the Chairman Governor’s Forum sub-committee on Primary Health Care Programme, noting that this would afford him the opportunity to work closely with the foundation by ensuring that the health care reform programme was a reality.
