The arrest of a Nigeria blogger Abubakar Usman by officers of Economic and Financial Crime Commission came to me as shocker leaving me with so many questions running through my busy brain. One was that the blogger got  involved in a dirty business and it back fired. Another question came to my mine was that the blogger wrote a story exposing financial fraud. These reasons should only be the basis for the arrest of this blogger.

Wife and 4 year old daughter killed in front of husband

A Southern California woman and her 4-year-old daughter were shot and killed late Saturday as they came home from grocery shopping. Long Beach police said Sunday that officers responded to a report of a shooting at around 10 p.m.
The woman, identified as 26-year-old Carina Mancera, was pronounced dead at the scene and the girl, identified as 4-year-old Jannebel Anaya, was wounded and transported to a hospital where she later died, according to the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

47-year-old man rapes neighbour’s 18 month old baby in Ikorodu

A 47-year-old man, Emmanuel Magbatie, has been arrested for allegedly defiling an 18-month-old girl (names withheld) in Owutu axis of Ikorodu, Lagos State.

This came barely a week after the Lagos State Government sought compulsory psychiatric test for rape and other domestic violence offenders in the country.

A 17-year-old girl, (first name withheld) Saka has died after drinking local insecticide, Sniper in Igando area of Lagos State.

Lagos Metro gathered that the victim allegedly blamed her grandma for her death in a note which she left behind.

The elderly woman was arrested after Saka’s boyfriend had reported the case at Igando division.

Serena Omo-Lamai has been granted admission to study in 13 universities in America and Canada, she has opted for Syracuse University, United States.

Omo-Lamai, who graduated from Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, last year, would be going to the states to study Bio-Medical Engineering.
The Punch reports that some of the universities where she was offered admission include Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, New York University, among others. Speaking in a telephone interview with newsmen on Monday, Omo-Lamai said she settled for Syracuse University because of the institution’s world-class research laboratory and a $51,000 scholarship offer.

Pregnant woman crushed to death in Minna, Niger state..

A pregnant woman was this morning crushed to death by a petrol tanker driver in front of Niger state College of Education, in Niger state. According to eyewitnesses, the deceased was on a motorcycle and was heading in a different direction when the tanker driver who was on top speed, lost control and ran into the motorcycle. Sadly only the woman died. The deceased is said to be a student of the department of Languages in the institution.

Ex-president Jonathan Alleges Plot To Kill Him, Denies Sponsoring Avengers.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday said the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) is still plotting to assassinate him, just as he denied being a sponsor of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA).
He spoke four days after he declared in Abuja during a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari that there is no alternative to Nigeria’s unity.

The slain military personnel were on “cordon and search” operation in the area when they were ambushed by the armed bandits.

Man burnt to death in his sleep in Jos.

Tragedy occurred in the early hours of today at Alheri Village located in Jos North the Plateau State capital when an elderly man was found burnt dead in his apartment.
The deceased who is believed to be in his late 70s has been ill for a long time and stays alone in the apartment before his death. A neighbour to the deceased said "The man has been ill and there was a time his children came and took him away but to our greatest surprise
